Pittsburgh Marathon 2022

Pittsburgh Marathon is an annual road marathon held on the first Sunday of May in the United States.

The Pittsburgh Marathon was first held in 1985.

More than 3,000 runners finish the Pittsburgh Marathon each year. which cross each of Pittsburgh's three main rivers.

The Pittsburgh Marathon hosted the United States Olympic Marathon Trials in 1988 for women and in 2000 for men.

In 1996 UPMC became the title sponsor, replacing Giant Eagle, and for a few years the race was renamed the UPMC/City of Pittsburgh Marathon.

The race was postponed from 2004 to 2008 due to the budget from UPMC withdrawing from title sponsorship.

The Pittsburgh Marathon start and end lines have changed several times, but have always been in downtown or the North Shore.

Several races take place during this weekend in addition to the main Pittsburgh Marathon event, including a half marathon, a two- to five-person marathon relay, 5K race, and the "Kids Marathon."
