All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has fixed the Engineering course fees. This fee will be applicable from this session 2022-23. In this, the fee for the first-year engineering program has been fixed from about Rs 79 thousand to Rs 1.89 lakh annually. This includes tuition, development, examination, and other fees. According to the information given by AICTE, colleges cannot keep tuition fees more than Rs 1000, with this technical educational institutions can charge fees only in four classes, in which tuition, Development, Examination, and others. College tuition fees cannot exceed one thousand rupees. Colleges will also have to upload the information on fees for four classes on the website. A dual degree, duration of integrated program etc. will also have to be fixed and uploaded on the website. This fee will be applicable in all government and private colleges. AICTD will send the prescribed fee report to the states soon and request its implementation. Till now engineering colleges used to charge five to six lakh rupees from the students. Parents will get relief from the implementation of the new rules. Also, private colleges will not be able to do arbitrariness.

The Engineering course Fees amount will be based on the facilities of the colleges. Computer lab, teachers, library along with other facilities will be seen. Only after this, the college will charge the fees from the students according to the fixed fees. This fee will also be determined on the basis of a metro city, A, B, and C categories. Along with this, in the second, third, and fourth years, the college can increase the fees only up to five percent every year in the fees applicable in the first year.
Technical educational institutions can charge Engineering course Fees only in four classes
This Engineering course Fee will be applicable in all programs from the second year to the final year of the program. In the first year, the fees can be fixed further depending on the college facilities and the category of the city. The fees of architecture and pharmacy will be decided by their council: AICTE has said that the council will decide related to the fees, examinations, and courses of architecture and pharmacy colleges. The fee for architecture will be decided by the Council of Architecture and for pharmacy colleges will be decided by the Pharmacy Council of India.
Engineering course Fees will increase by 5% every year
Under the new rule, technical colleges will be able to increase Engineering course Fees by up to five percent every year. This fee hike will be applicable in all programs from the second year to the final year of the program. In the first year, the college will be able to increase further on the basis of the facilities and the fees that will be fixed based on the category of the city.
For the first time, the fee has been sent to the Ministry of Education for approval.
AICTE has said that for the first time, a minimum and maximum fee slab has been prescribed for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering, design, art, and craft programs. Earlier the slab of fees was not fixed. This fee has been fixed on the basis of the recommendations and review of the Justice Srikrishnan Committee and Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari Committee. However, it has been sent for the approval of the Ministry of Education. After getting approval from here, it will be implemented.

Five percent increase every year approved
The said technical colleges will be able to increase the fees by five percent every year. This fee hike will be applicable in all programs from the second year to the final year of the program. In the first year, the college will be able to increase further on the basis of facilities and the number of fees fixed on the basis of the category of the city. Technical educational institutions can charge fees only in four classes, which include tuition, development, examination, and others (one percent of the tuition fee or not exceeding one thousand rupees).

Their council will decide the fees for architecture and pharmacy
The Architecture and Pharmacy Colleges are of course under AICTE, but they will not fix the fees. Actually, the Council of Architecture will make all the decisions regarding fees, syllabus, examination, etc. in the architecture program. Similarly, the Pharmacy Council of India will also decide the pharmacy college.
Right of states to fix Engineering course Fees
AICTE decides the rules for courses, syllabus, exam pattern and seats etc. in all technical colleges across the country. The higher education department of all the states and the committee of the state government decide how much technical higher educational institutions will keep the fees. AICTE will share this fee-determined report and urge the states to implement it, but the state will have the right to accept it or not.
