अमेरिका के लॉस एंजलिस और सन फ्रांसिस्को शहर के बीच 16 फरवरी के दिन साल 1914 में पहली बार एरोप्लेन ने हवाई यात्रा की थी।
अखंड भारत में स्थित लुधियाना शहर ने साल 1918 में 16 फरवरी के दिन ही अपने आप को फ्रीडम स्टेट घोषित कर दिया था।
साल 1969 में मिर्जा गालिब की 100वी पुण्यतिथि थी और इसी दिन इंडियन गवर्नमेंट के द्वारा उनके नाम का डाक टिकट बाहर निकाला गया था।
वर्ष 1959 में 16 फरवरी के दिन ही क्यूबा की सत्ता को राष्ट्रपति फिदेल कास्त्रो ने अपने हाथ ले लिया था।

पाकिस्तान के लिए यह दिन भयावह साबित हुआ था क्योंकि इसी दिन साल 2013 में पाकिस्तान के हजारा नाम के इलाके में एक भीषण बम ब्लास्ट हुआ था। इस भीषण बम ब्लास्ट में तकरीबन 84 लोकल और निर्दोष लोगों की मृत्यु हुई थी और 190 से भी अधिक लोग घायल हुए थे जिसमें से कुछ लोगों की बाद में मृत्यु हो गई थी।
साल 1745 में 16 फरवरी के दिन मराठा साम्राज्य के चौथे राजा थोर्ले माधवराव जी का जन्म भारत देश में हुआ था।
विद्वान राजेंद्र लाल मिश्रा जी का जन्म साल 1882 में 16 फरवरी के दिन ही हुआ था।
ओक्तवे मिर्बो नाम के फेमस फ्रेंच लेखक का जन्म आज ही के दिन 1848 में हुआ था।
